Results against The Panic Attacks
Nervous. That word describes the gut feeling we get everytime we prepare to start a clanmatch. Clanmatches are always an excellent learning experience and this series was no exception. Playing against The Panic Attacks was a difficult challenge; the fact that they brought an organized and profecient team made this match even better. The Winged Warriors were ready to go and so were the The Panic Attacks.
- This clanmatch started on Tuesday, April 25th at 10:00pm central time.
- The total match duration including lobby time was 1hr 5min.
- There were a total of 5 games played in this match (2 CTF, 1 Assault & 2 Slayer).
- 8 players participated; 4 represented the Winged Warriors, 4 represented The Panic Attacks.
This game was characterized by mistakes, our own crucial mistakes that cost us the game. At the start of the match the Winged Warriors made a fundamentally poor move towards their flag. The Panic Attacks destroyed our initial attack and countered it with precise and excessive force. Another heartbreaking mistake came late in the game, they had taken our flag but we were able to stop them on top of their base. After valiently defending our flag one of our Warriors left his defensive post to steal their flag before ours had returned. This mistake enabled them to overpower our remaining defense and score the final point. In what was probably the quickest Beaver Creek CTF match in our clan's history, The Panic Attacks quickly converted their initial advantadge into the points needed to win the game.

This game was a blast, and it was mainly due to the fact that the Winged Warriors' team work was most evident in this assault game on everyone's favorite train map. The Winged Warriors did an excellent job of executing Night Rider 7's on-the-fly orders. Often stopping in the middle of something to divert to the new objective; the Winged Warriors were focused and working as a team. The Panic Attacks found that they could do little to stop the juggernaut like force the Warriors were creating with their precision timed attacks. TPA later revealed that Assault on Terminal was their best map, interestingly enough it would be their only loss.

While the Winged Warriors generally play well in slayer games, our lack of a dominant sniper really showed up to hurt us. While we were able to hold the sniper rifle and guard is spawn point reasonably well, the TPA squad would get several kills from each sniper they were able to acquire. This game was neck and neck at first but The Panic Attacks were able to out play and out snipe the Warriors in this grueling team slayer match.

Game IV: 1 Flag CTF on Zanzibar - Too Much Too Handle
1 Flag CTF on Zanzibar is one of our better games, we have extravagant tactics that usually work without fail on weaker opponents. The main problem was that TPA would pull out all the stops on our approach making it legitimately difficult to score. On one instance the Winged Warriors had the flag all the way out of the base and on the seawall but The Panic Attacks were able to stop us dead in our tracks and hold us scoreless for the entire game.

One of the closest games in this match was the last one. We played our traditional Team Slayer on Lockout only this time we played to fifty kills instead of our normal one hundred for lockout. This match was a struggle for positioning and power weapons. The Panic Attacks blew our defenses out of the mountain a few times which really offset our playstyle and made survival a constant issue. Even though we lost this game by nine points we learned some very valuable lessons that we'll be using next time we play lockout.

Match Summary
As you might have guessed from the titles, The Panic Attacks were too much for us. We made enough costly mistakes on our own, add that to the proficiency of The Panic Attacks' squad and we were running straight into a rather disheartening 4-1 defeat. Don't get me wrong I feel we could have beaten them but we missed too many opportunities. This clanmatch has illustrated to us that more preparation is needed. We've come along ways since the Winged Warriors first started in January of 2005 but there is still more to come. We look forward to a chance at a rematch with The Panic Attacks in the near future.
