This match has been in the making ever since our previously scheduled match against the Junkies on December 7th, 2006 was changed from a competitive clan match to a fun night of recreational games.
From the start, both teams were in a back and forth struggle for control of the ball, each gaining time here and there. However, near the very end the Junkies pulled the ball away and put the Warriors in pursuit. Unfortunately, the Warriors were unable to regain control, leading to a Junkie victory by a margin of forty seconds.
The game could be summed up in two words “host gauss”. xX YourHero Xx of the Junkies went on a rampage in the gauss turret as he picked off Warrior after Warrior. To counter the gauss, the Warriors decided to set up shop in one of the bases since there was no time limit. However, the Warriors were soon overcome with boredom and decided to fight back against the Junkie stronghold. Unfortunately it was too much for the Warriors and the Junkies came out on top 100-83. The Junkies were now up by two games, the Warriors would have to make a turn around quickly to have a shot at victory.
The Warriors were in need of a win and they knew it. The Warriors came out strong, quickly pushing the Junkies out of the center and gaining control of the map. With control, the Warriors rushed together and successfully pulled the flag out of the Junkies’ base and came away with the capture. The Junkies quickly regrouped, and the Warriors were in turn pushed out of the center and contained in their base. With the ball in the Junkies’ court, they were able to grab the flag and tie up the game. The remainder of the game was a struggle for map control. Fortunately for the Warriors their teamwork and timing allowed them to make two more captures, and subsequently achieve their first win in the match.

The game was a Junkie favorite, which was quickly proven as two Junkies accumulated their thirty seconds of ball time. Seeing a chance at victory fading fast, the Warriors quickly pressured the Junkie defense and gained control of the ball. For the next few minutes the Warriors set up a rock solid defense that allowed four of their members to accumulate the needed time. Unfortunately, an inopportune mistake on the Warriors’ side led to the Junkies regaining control, and two more of the Junkies obtaining their thirty seconds. Once again a Warrior victory was fading and once again a well executed attack broke up the Junkies’ control, turning the rest of the game into a tug of war match. Near the end xxmrbenxx of the Winged Warriors only needed one second to give his team the victory, as Pastemaster of the Winged Warriors stated “it was the hardest fought second ever.” The match was now tied, 2-2, and the next game would decide the victor in the match.
The fifth game as usual would be the tiebreaker. For this game the Warriors had choice of gametype and the Junkies had choice of map. The Warriors started out on offense and quickly rushed the Junkies’ base, and through well executed attacks the Warriors came away with the capture. The next round began and the Junkies rushed hard, but the rock solid defense of the Warriors kept them at bay for the majority of the round. Unfortunately a few inopportune mistakes late in the round led to a capture by the Junkies. The next round was underway and the Warriors attacked the Junkie stronghold repeatedly, but to their dismay they were held scoreless. The final round began and the Warriors needed to hold off the Junkies, and for the majority of the round they were successful. However, late in the round the Junkies started to move the flag, and during sudden death both teams were met with the pointy end of xbox live’s lag spike. Both clans fought through it, but in the end the Junkies were held scoreless and the game and the match ended in a tie.
The Junkies are a great bunch of guys, and they gave us a fun and challenging match. We hope to meet again in Halo 3 for a rematch, especially since our first meeting resulted in a tie.
