UNSC Veteran Fund

   To all former Warriors, our allies, and the friends that make LIVE our home. One of our Warriors has fallen, dare I say, a friend to us all has fallen. Pieter Kok or Night Rider 7, the founder and former overlord of the Winged Warriors, was in a near fatal car accident earlier this year.

His condition has quickly developed into an ever more real and terrifying situation for his family and us his friends and clanmates. He survived the car accident but sustained severe injuries. There was major brain trauma, his left eye was heavily damaged, bones and tissue sustained massive injury and once at the hospital he went into a coma for many weeks. He stayed that way until just recently when he started to be able to hear and make choices. His mother says that he is now able to signal which CD he would like to hear by moving his left or right thumb indicating preference. This is wonderful to hear for all of us, and we hope and pray for continued and full recovery.

Pieter's recovery has now become our mission. Pieter's roster page quote says,

"You can always run your races long, hard, and fast; but to win races and to beat your opponents, you will need to run harder, longer, and faster than anyone else."

But Pieter has fallen, not to a knee in rest, but to the ground in anguish; and as his brothers, as his wolves, we must race longer for him, harder for him, and faster for him. His race is that of financial need and so that is the burden we now bear.

This is how we ask for your help. Hospitals and home care are both very expensive and finances are the place in which his strength and his courage cannot carry him. We are starting a fund to help Pieter's family with his care. The UNSC Veteran Fund is a PayPal charity that will be collected and sent to Pieter's mother at the end of each month until Pieter has recovered. There is no minimum and no maximum amount you may give, please just let your heart lead you. Many of you are new to Halo, many are new to the Winged Warriors. What you know and see before you, who you know and what they do, much of it is a result of Pieter's resolve and friendship. He united many players in battle and then kinship. He brought a disparate group of clans into a thriving community many times over and over again. He built and maintained countless websites for many of our closest allies. And most important to us Warriors, his resolve and passion for competition laid the foundation for our home, the Winged Warriors. Our thanks and prayers go with Pieter, and our hopes go with our friends who read this: may you join us in lifting Pieter above the fray.

Tryout and Clan Match Update

March 26th, 2008

   The performance stage of tryouts is now complete, and we are currently in the process of interviewing applicants. Out of the eleven applicants; six have made it to the interview stage. Their gamertags are DOOM NAV3, H05H, EightyVirus, TacoChief 74, pkripper43 and AutofireDev. Out of the six only the best two will have the honor of calling themselves Winged Warriors.

Upcoming Clan Matches

   With tryouts coming to a close, we will once again start scheduling clan matches. As mentioned before we currenly have a list of 11 clans waiting to face the Winged Warriors. Our upcoming clan match opponents, in order are; Currently we are set to face The Halo Assassins on April 15th. If your clan is on the list you will be contacted soon.

Tryout and Challenge Update

March 7th, 2008

   We have reviewed all the applications, and have invited eight players to attend our upcoming tryout. The gamertags of those eight are; the arkit3kt, H05H, DOOM NAV3, TacoChief 74, oO McClane Oo, PO PAPPY Z 143, wh4tshisf4c3, and EightyVirus. As a reminder, tryouts will span three sessions, and the dates and times are; March 18th at 11:00pm eastern, March 20th at 11:00pm eastern and March 25th at 11:00pm eastern. After the three sessions these eight gamers will be narrowed down again, and only a handful will receive an interview. When all is said and done, the three best players will be able to call themselves Winged Warriors.

Power Rangers Challenge Update

   Last week we challenged the Former Power Rangers to a match, however, they responded by declaring the match "impossible". To the Winged Warriors, nothing is impossible, therefore we will accommodate the Power Rangers by only requiring that two of the former Power Rangers be present. Meaning that we will settle for a match against the clan match team of Second Foundation and former Power Rangers, Sigafoos and Brathnok.

Leap Day Beatdown

    The past few months were a dark time for the Winged Warriors, a time which jeopardized our very existence. Fortunately the perseverance of our members has allowed us to fully recover from near obliteration. We are now back and proud to announce that our site is fully up to date. Please read on to view our news updates, roster updates, clan match results, and upcoming tryout information.

First off, Simmons 2pt0 announced his departure from Halo 3 on December 7th 2007. Since he has decided to no longer actively play or compete on Halo 3 he has been officially retired from the Winged Warriors.

Secondly, WW Horizon departed from the Winged Warriors on February 7th 2007. I would like to thank him for all that he has done, especially his duty as our webmaster.

With the recent departures, our roster page has been updated to reflect those changes. Below is the current roster of Team Phoenix.

Upcoming Halo 3 Tryouts

    The Winged Warriors are currently in the process of recruiting for our upcoming tryout which will be held on Tuesday March 19th at 11:00pm eastern, Thursday March 21st at 11:00pm eastern, and Tuesday March 26th at 11:00pm eastern. In order to be invited you must fill out our tryout application and send it to tryouts@wingrunner.net. Once we recieve your application it will be reviewed, and if your application is approved you will receive an email containing more details.

Halo 3 Clan Match Results

    The results of our last five Halo 3 clan matches are online. In order to view the results, please click on the results link next to the clan match opponent.

Future Clan Match Opponents

    Currently, nine clans are on our list of future clan match opponents. Once tryouts are completed, we will start setting up dates and times in the order we were challenged. Our clan match opponents in order are; We're Not Godz, International Gaming Community, 317 Spartans (Formerly Spartans Fo Life), Knights of Columbus, Team InteZity, Army of the Republic, Podtacular, Halo 3 Junkies, and Higher Gun Evolution.

The Gauntlet has been Thrown

   The Winged Warriors officially challenge the former COB Power Rangers to a five game Halo 3 match. The Winged Warriors squared off against the Power Rangers in Clan Match 12 on July 27th 2006. Ever since we suffered that disappointing loss the former members of the Power Rangers have frequently made us relive that moment. So because of that, we officially throw down the gauntlet.

Winged Warriors Celebrate Three Years of Excellence in Competition

January 21st, 2008

   The Winged Warriors have been a competitive clan at heart from their beginning on January 21, 2005. When the clan was founded by Night Rider 7 their goal was to be better at the game and to have better sportsmanship. Now, three years, thirty-three official clan matches, and one hundred sixty-seven clan match games later the Winged Warriors have become one of the leading competitive clans in the gaming community. When we first started we were determined to become better in both practice and principle, and to elevate our standards above the mob. We have succeeded for three years now and will do so as long as we exist.

Sincere thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far, there are too many to mention but we owe part of our success to our supporters in the Halo community, especially our allies. Most of all, I thank the members who make up the Winged Warriors, you Warriors are truly the blood of the clan and you have definitely proven to the world that nothing can stop you when you put your hearts into it. Here's to another incredible and successful year of excellence in teamwork, communication, planning, and good sportsmanship!
